Sophie's Suess Skirt:D
So glad I got them finished
while she can still get some wear out of it:D
Procrastination is never a good thing....LOL.
Isn't the fabric cute?
Found it at Hancock's of Paducah as like the other fabric below.
Their fabrics are such high quality
as well as great designs!
I love it when we go there....especially if I have money in my pocket:D

Sophie's Day in my Workroom:D
with her brother, mom and dad......
I promised to sew up a few things for her.
We went through the beautiful fabrics I had purchased
at Hancock's of Paducah
and
she picked out a few that she liked!
With several vacation trips and our new baby,
time has gotten away from me.
Yesterday I decided if I didn't get them made soon.......
cool weather (HA)
would be here and it would be time for corduroy and wool!
Here is the first promised piece......a sundress
in this wonderful tomato red
with pale blue accents.
I really liked the way it turned out,
but it hard to show it off without a body in it...LOL

Today was Milly's Dress:D
New Rags for Margo.....
do I get to see the girls in their clothes I make.
Since Margo was here today,
I took the opportunity to see the new dress
I had just finished:D
She looked to cute in it,
but wasn't at all thrilled about me fussing over her!
I am working on one for Milly now
and
will post when finished.
I love sewing for all of the kids:D

Completed so far................
If you sew and have never been to "Hancock of Paducah".....the trip is a must! I get like a kid in a candy store:D The most beautiful array of fabrics from all the top designers are spread before you like a buffet......and you are starving..LOL! I find things I could never lay my hands on in St. Louis. I planned to make all my grandchildren girls some sundresses for the season.....and the fabrics were so hard to chose since I loved so many of them. As soon as we got home, I got to work and now have completed three. Still have several to go, but thought I would share anyway:D

Switching Lanes
When I get frustrated.....I change direction:D It is sort of a defense mechanism I guess.....LOL! Anyway, today after the ole Mammie and OB yearly.....I headed home....so glad that it was over for another year!!!! Suddenly, nearly running into a car, I swished my car into JoAnn Fabrics Store. I don't usually shop there, but it is hard to find a fabric store in St. Louis:( My favorite closed last summer and I find myself ordering online most of the time. On a whim......I thought I would give JoAnn's a try. As expected, after shopping all the aisles once I was ready to go. Since I had the time I decided to give it one more try just to make sure something didn't slip by me! Well......good for me:D They were having a sale and much of their fabric is 50% off. The quality of almost all of their fabric leaves me cold...........but.....like I said, once in a while I find something really nice. Well, today was my lucky day. On that second trip I found some great quality (almost like pima broadcloth) fabrics hidden in between some flannels. The photos don't do the fabric justice, but take it from me it has wonderful "hand" and is top quality. The best part was that it was only 4.49/yd. instead of the usual 9-10 dollars a yard. I purchased enough to make a couple of the girls sundresses and maybe a skirt or two. It was a good day:DI plan to make the dresses out of the black floral with the dot will be a border at the bottom. Not sure what I will do with the light floral yet.

Several Weeks Ago!
Remember this little skirt? Well, I received a pic of our Sophie in her new skirt along with a couple other pics. I know everyone gets tired of seeing pics of our grandchildren.....but they are the world to us....each and every one of them:D
This is our grandson....Jack! A gorgeous child with a talent for music. He plays the piano very well and loves to sing as well. Sweet boy, I only wish we could see him more often.....we will have to work on that:D You might remember that he was in a Jr. High production that we went to not too long ago! This is our granddaughter Sophie:D Precious little girl that loves arts and crafts. I made her this little skirt and her mom sent me a pic of her in it:D Thanks Kelly.......love seeing the kids in things I made:D I will get busy and made a few more summer things for all our girls. Nana needs to keep busy.......or else I might get in trouble.

Treats for Josie and Gabby
I wanted to make something for the girls and since we were taking them out for dinner tomorrow night.....I thought it would be nice to have them ready as a little Spring treat:D I search high and low to find a little T-shirt in yell0w to go with them.....but none to be found:( I loved the material I found online. It was even prettier when it arrived! Once finished the skirts still needed something. I thought of putting a pocket on each but then decided to decorate them with a large lower much like the ones in the floral fabric. Using scraps of different fabrics and some wool flannel I made these flowers that were sewn onto the skirt fronts. I really think they came out cute......hope the girls like them!Saturday, March 05, 2011

Quick project for the season:D
On our drive back from Alabama,
the guys let us have an hour at Hancock's of Paducah, Kenducky.
The selection of fabrics is amazing!
I found this cute Halloween print
to make some pillowcases for my little pumpkins.
Today I got on the stick and made them.....none to soon I might add. This afternoon
I will try to deliver them
so the kids can use them this coming week-end:D
