New Town........

Treadmills
Today we went with Sheila, Chris and the twins to St. Louis Mills Mall and onto "New Town" in St. Charles county! Chris had been telling us of this brand spanking new development in the midst of corn fields......but it was hard to imagine until we went to see it today! A complete planned city with canals running through it and picturesque bridges and lakes! REALLY SOMETHING! I wondered why I hadn't heard of it before? It is much like Seaside in Destin Florida......a complete planned town with every small detail taken into account:D It almost looks like a movie set..........any kind of housing you could want, shops, activities, water sports, post office, grocery, fountains and pool/recreation area even two brand new churches that are ecumenical and in the plan...etc. etc. etc. They have a large ampitheatre where concerts are free to the public.........they even have a large billboard type display for the "Colors of New Town" showing all the colors of the homes......Here are a few pics we took and a few more that I got off their website:D

I've wanted to visit New Town ever since they started talking about it! We caught a glimpse of it, when we drove out to Portage for the Blessing of the Boats. It looks like a neat place. I think this is what they had in mind when they built Winghaven, just off Hwy 40.

Great photos!

Hi Linda! Thanks for the comment you left for me, and for those in the past. I'm sorry I don't reciprocate as I should! I have been meaning to write to you and let you know how cute the little boxes in Somerset Home are! Love the one with the blocks, etc. And thanks for noticing that, yes, I have lost some weight! I went on Nutrisystem a few months ago and lost 25 lbs, putting me back to a little less than pre-Riley weight! I've still got the baby tummy though, so would love to lose that as well. I actually think that photo on my blog is a little deceiving though- the angle makes me look even skinnier- maybe I should require everyone look at me from that angle from now on!!

WOW....I'd love to see it. It wasn't done when we lived in Chesterfield 2 years ago....it was still being developed...and now those photos...so cool !!!

We vacation every year in Seaside...have you been there ??? Seaside is not in Destin, but 20 minutes from there....and now the new development around Seaside is WaterColor and it is AMAZING !!!...it's huge and the cottages are wonderful and you can walk into Seaside (or bike) as the two join each other. But....Seaside still has the best places to eat and the best shopping...
Thanks for sharing the story and the pictures....now I want to come back to St. Louis and visit there.

This place look idyllic.......I looked at the website, and I loved the live/work spaces. A few years ago, we visited Celebration Florida, a town that was developed by Disney, and it was similar to this.Almost makes me want to move!

Heya! There's my house! :) Glad you enjoyed your visit. Next weekend is the HUGE St. Charles Blast (Saturday). It was loads of fun last year (lots of games for the kids too and a petting zoo).
