Chalkboard with Annie Sloan!

After hours of searching.....I finally settled on a frame that wasn't exactly what I wanted! I found this frame with linen matting at the thrift store and decided it would work. What I wanted was a CHALKBOARD in my LAUNDRY ROOM to leave messages on and a place to jot down grocery needs as they come along:D

The linen is mounted on wood making a very large sturdy frame for my CHALKBOARD!

With the Chalkboard paint from Walmart.....I started my task. The picture that had been in the frame was mounted on a piece of foam board......this too made for a sturdy surface on which to place our notes.......

Using two coats of the Chalkboard Paint.......I coated the surface, first painting in one direction and then the other!
I simply painted over the foam board.....flipped the piece over and painted the reverse side as well. This will keep the piece from bowing.

Now it was time to work on the frame!

Annie Sloan paint doesn't need a sanding first.....so I gave the frame and linen matte a coat of Louis Blue...then a second when it had dried.

To finish off the frame, I used Annie Sloan "Old White" and let some of the blue show through from underneath. Not a very good picture I know:D

Since the Blackboard paint has to season for a week before writing upon it.......I proceeded to hang my new piece in the laundry room. As you enter our home from the garage, the laundry room is the room you come in to. This message board will serve as a place for us to leave messages for one another.....and as Martha would say....."That is a good thing"!

That is one fancy laundry you have there! So funny that I posted a black board in an old frame as well this week!!!

What a great idea! It's amazing the thoughts that come to you in the laundry room.

Did you know that you can use Annie's paint as a chalkboard too. Just use two/three coats and don't wax it. Season it with chalk and you're ready to go!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing at my Chalk Paint Party!
