Tomorrow...............................

Treadmills
I haven't written about this because I don't like to talk about it much! I feel that it is boring to go into details about your illnesses or aches and pains........but........since tomorrow is going to be a good day I thought I would tell you. I have suffered from P.A.T. since I was 25 yrs. old (about a trillion yrs. ago:). It is a racing heart beat. I have taken medicine for it everyday for at least 20 yrs. Well, after awhile, the medicine doesn't hold the heartbeat in check anymore and the irregular beating breaks through the medicine. It is very uncomfortable and usually beats around 200 beats per minute compared to 74 beats at the normal rate:0 If it lasts more than 15 minutes I am supposed to head to the hospital to have it stopped with a drip put in my arm. Lately, it has broken through alot and caused me much anxiety. You never know what will set it off and it makes it difficult to plan ahead..........especially away from the house. In the last three week-ends, I have ended up at the emergency room twice. The third time it stopped before we arrived....so we turned around and came home! Yesterday we spent all day in the emergency room while they did a proceedure where they send a camera up through the artery in your groin...into your heart and look at the condition of the arteries for blockage. They said there was minor blockage in one artery.....nothing to be worried about:) Next, they told me that Friday I would undergo another proceedure that would send monitors up through the arteries again. This time they are watching the heart while they set it into the rapid beat mechanically. Once they spot the place where the heart beat is miss-firing....they will zap it with an ultra sound device of some sort. This will break the cycle my heart has gotten into and cause my heart to go back to a normal heartbeat from now on! Of course......that is the simple explanation...ha....ha...but after tomorrow I shouldn't have to take any medicine again. Doc says that if I can go without palpitations for two months I have a 99% chance of never having it again! Oh, did I mention that I have to quit smoking?????? That will be the hardest part of the entire thing.........................Say a little prayer that all will go all right:) I would appreciate it...linda

Lots of positive thoughts coming. I have had rapid heartbeat problems in the past with too much caffeine. The way I stop mine is by coughing a few times. It actually works for me & I hear other people.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Linda, while you go through this procedure and during the healing process afterwards. May God guide the surgeon's hands. I ask that God provide you the strength and the willpower to overcome your nicotine addiction and blesses you and your loved ones in so many ways for giving it up. {I too suffer from a nicotine addiction. I've tried many times to quit and have never been 100% successful. Maybe we could encourage one another? I've been ready to try again, maybe this is the inspiration I need too.}
