Another project I just started......

I found these little houses at H.L. several weeks ago for 1/2 price. I scooped them all up and just laid a brush to them last night. I have gessoed them and painted them cream color so far. Roofs have been painted or maybe washed is a better term. Glue and glitter has been applied to the roofs although it doesn't show much on these photos. I want to get some celephane for the windows because I plan to put some of those little flickering battery run votives inside. After adding a few bottle brush trees I am stumped! Any suggestions? Not sure what to do.....anyway, I plan to cover some twinkle lights with cotton batting on the mantle. Also, I plan to include a lot of cream colored candles. Maybe a swag too......will have to see! It takes me forever to get what I want.....anybody else have that problem?????? Hopefully next installment coming soon:)

Is there anything better than little houses on the mantle? I got some on ebay and I am going to put them under a cloche (bell jar) so that little hands can see but not touch! They'll have lots of glitter snow and as many little additions as I can find--like a little mirror for a lake. (My grandmother used to put a winter scene on her coffee table every year. I remember it still.)

Is there anyway of incorporating vintage images on these? don't know, but it might be interesting. If anyone has the wherewithal to do it, you do.

Leave it to you to make something so cute and heartwarming! In France, at Christmas, we put up a Creche, a French village, of course the houses look mofe like huts. That is their nativity scene.
The little trees add an extra spark of sweetness!

Are these the paper mache houses? A couple of years ago I collaged some photos on one of them of me from my childhood home, photos taken of other relatives in that house. Made shingles for the roof with words pertaining to the l950's, etc. I know that's not Christmasy....but it was theraputic. Glued a mapquest map on the bottom of the location. Made a little book for inside with things like the floorplan and memories. I have jpegs if you are ever interested. I love little houses.

I have the same houses on my fireplace! I decoupaged vintage sheet music all over one, added shutters and windowboxes on another and used vellum sheets inside the windows. I also have vintage bottle brush wreathes and tree outside. All of the house were then given a roof full of "snow" (unrolled cotten balls) and showered with glitter. They were so much fun! I want to make another set with more color! HB also had tiny ornament houses - did you see those? Those I covered with silver glitter and then aged with vintage gold paint that Pam Garrison had mentioned on her blog. Please show your houses if you make any more changes!

Linda!!! I love these houses. My grandmother had the little cardboard ones from the 30's and 40's? I wish I had a Hobby Lobby in my state! I would love to make a Christmas village.

I added my paper mache house pictures to my Picture Trail Site. I really need to start using that. I'm glad I checked back here and saw there is an interest in my house!!! Here is a link:
