Hermann, Mo.

For the past several years my friends Cyndy, Bev and I have enjoyed the romance of a little German Town called Hermann, Mo. Located about an hours drive from St. Louis, this sleepy little town lies in the rolling hills just south of the Missouri River. It is known for it's German hospitality and wineries! Wine Fests are held each Fall and Spring and are a wonderful respite from the city life :) At Christmas time the town comes alive with German crafts, German food and good German music!!!! Father Bob is one of the local priests in town and has a tradition of decorating the rectory with hundreds.......literally hundreds.....of Christmas trees and other seasonal wonder. He opens his home to the public for all to enjoy and does it free of charge! A rare thing in this day and age. A donation can be left if desired!!!!! Here I have posted just a few of the 100+ pics I took while on the tour. Hope you enjoy them even though it is lengthy :)

Not a corner has been overlooked in the rectory! Father Bob and his crew have been working on this since October......

These first pictures are of the parlor or living room!

Each windowsill is decorated in great detail...........

Bev's aunt Betty helps Father each year and told us that they start decorating the trees from the inside (near the trunk). This way the tree holds more ornaments and detail.....WOW!

Check out this dining table! Unbelievable!!!!

This bedroom was new this year and features Santa and Mrs. Clause......

One bedroom is decorated with nothing but "Wizard of Oz" collected by Father Bob. Here he has painted a large mural on the wall as well :)

We ran into old friends in the Father's living room! What fun reconnecting after 20 yrs.

Cyndy is admiring the decor in the bathroom.....ha..ha

Bev by the Mardi Gras Tree......new this year!

White Feather Tree.........

Then it was off to the German Craft Show and Lunch....

Fabulous crafts and Brats....................

Below is a view of the new additions to Hermann. The Dierberg Family is investing many dollars to restore and build in the area:)

These homes restored and owned by the Dierbergs can be rented for a night or a week-end! What fun!

Here they are in all their glory! Wind in their hair and crafts on their mind.....LOL

We've been trying to get to Hermann for several months. It's another one of those things on the list that things keep interfering with.

I'm going to link to this post, at the Back Porch, Linda...it's spectacular. If you get a chance go to Rhoda's and link up for her house tour. Julia at Hooked on Houses is also having a tour. I would love for folks to see this wonderful post!
