Well, so it was two days ago.......I have been reading "The Quilter's Apprentice" and all the talk about patches and fabric scraps got me going! I purchased this new Strip Quilt Pattern Book several weeks ago and never opened it:D One morning the urge hit me and I got started. These fabrics are all from the new Mary Englebrite collection with the exception of one piece. The patch work is not the best.....but I am really trying:D
The pattern I fell in love with was the "Magic Carpet". I love vintage and this really reminded me of an antique quilt. This is all done with 2 1/2" strips:)
Instructions were a little difficult for me....so I took it to my local Quilt Shop, Susie Q's, and she helped me to figure out what they were wanting me to do.....
Once the strips were cut.....the pieceing began and that is the fun part to me!
With sewn strips in place and pressed it was time to get onto making the large patches. As you can see....I am not a great quilter.....that is why I like strip quilting....it hides a lot of sins....LOL
Aren't the square cute? I will share more when I get it entirely pieced together:D

I love it. I really like Mary Engelbreit art and I know your quilt will be great when it's finished. I am about to tackle a t-shirt quilt for my oldest son. He has baseball, etc t-shirts all the way from t-ball to college ball that he can't bear to part with, so I told him I'd make a quilt for him. I've been studying different techniques on the internet and am about to start cutting apart the t-shirts. I'm a little nervous, so wish me luck. Do you have any advice?
Hi Teri......No advice because I don't know how you sew knit! I do wish you luck though:D I guess you will back the pieces to make them sturdy? I really don't have any idea how you will do that, but will be interested in hearing about it:D
Oh, fabulous Girlfriend. Lov'in the quilt!!! linda
This is going to be such a pretty quilt; so vintage-looking with all those colorful prints. Good luck on it.
