This building was built during the 1904 Worlds Fair and was one of only a few permanent structures. It is rated in the top 10 art museums in the U.S. and I am so proud to present it to you! Rog and I visited this afternoon and what a treat it always is..........This is Sculpture Hall that lies in the center of the museum. Hanging in Sculpture Hall was one of the most remarkable pieces I have ever seen! It was made in 1944 and is made of whisky bottle tops. Evidently the artist clipped and the flattened the tops to create small rectangular metal pieces. The color is actually the advertisement printed on the caps. He then sewed all the pieces together using copper wire. This piece is huge and resembles a giant quilt!!!!! It reminds me of Klimt....(sorry, but I can't ever get the pictures where I want them......they seem to do their own thing:)

I agree, it is very Klimt and very beautiful. At first I thought it was the ends of mens ties tacked together into sort of a quilt.

Looks like a very lovely place. I love visiting our Joslyn Art Museum here in Omaha. It is such a peaceful place... wish I could get my husband to go!
