TRADITION........tradition.....tradition.....

Treadmills

Sounds like a line from
"Fiddler on the Roof"
Well......Jill has asked us to post
some tradition that we have established in our family:D
Can't wait to see
the other traditions that people post!!!!!
Just go to Jill's blog
and
check out the other traditions
friends have posted!

OUR TRADITION
started
MANY YEARS AGO......
so long ago
that
I can't even remember:D
Every Christmas Eve our family gathers
at our home!
After eating a special dinner and opening of gifts
we bring out the dice!
We all sit on the floor or close....some may grab a chair, raised hearth or ottoman.
We must be in a circle....so....over the years our circle has grown:D
In the center of the LARGE circle we place a pile of beautifully wrapped gifts.
These gifts
are silly gifts....
some useful
some gags
some embarrassing
some ridiculous
and
some just wonderful!!!!
Everyone is now trained....but years ago everyone was asked to bring
3 wrapped silly gifts.
Well, that led to alot of improvising......
Many inside jokes gain momentum with this game..
Creativity has taken charge and the gifts get better and better
with each passing year:D
We have had life size stuffed dolls wrapped (I mean 5 feet tall..ha..ha)
posters made of unflattering photos
business cards made of unflattering photos...use your imagination
banana peel
old bra
picture off my wall (for several years, my nephew would find a certain terrible portrait
of my son (his cousin) with a mullet.....and wrap it without us knowing.
He would then slip it into the pile of gifts without anyone seeing:)
CASH
and
almost anything you can think of:D
When a person has rolled (6) sixes on the die
it is their turn to pick a gift from the middle of the circle.
If a person rolls a six with the 5 die
they can roll again.
But
If they do not roll a six they must pass the die to the next player!
You must remember how many sixes you have
until you have accumulated all (6).
The MOST FUN is the second part of the game which occurs when
all the gifts have been taken!!!!!!
Now....it is time to steal from your neighbor!
Again, each time you accumulate (6) sixes you can steal a gift!
Well, it gets VICIOUS.....that is all I can say...
Players get an idea of what is in a certain package and it gets taken over and over
again....
We time the last part of the game.....so everyone is screaming and yelling to
get the move on......so silly!!!
We tried to stop this silly Bunko game once, but the outcry was
HUGE!!!!!
Everyone said....."It won't be Christmas without BUNKO".....o.k. o.k.
we said.....
We will never try that again:D
Some years we have had family members that were ill and couldn't attend....
come over in P.J.'s just to play the game......ha..ha
(these are the only pics I had of the game that were taken with a digital camera and they are from several years ago:D

That looks like a fun tradition! We have done a Chinese gift grab before, and that also gets interesting! Nothing like it to get folks laughing!
