Creative Envy..................

Treadmills
I have loved the artwork of Alicia LaChance for several years now. I have tried several times to purchase a piece of her work, but it has never come full circle. Several of the pieces I wanted to purchase were on her gallery website, but when I inquired......they were all sold. I followed her to several outdoor art shows, but the only pieces available (that I liked) were huge and out of the question price wise! So, to the object of this post..........I decided to paint a couple paintings inspired my Alicia (in the same manner of the series I loved). Well, to make a long story short, I finished the painting and took a pic which you see here...................................then I took it back to my studio and gave it a coat of enamel protective spray!!!!!! OH NO!!!!! The blend of waterbase acrylic paint and the oil base spray ruined the piece and I am not sure what it will look like tomorrow:( ANyway, I am beginning to believe that the art gods lead me to do this and ruin the piece. Maybe they are protecting her image or shaming me for making such a close rendition.......I am not sure, but it did make me stop and think!!!!! I must tell all of you that I would never have sold this piece.....it was made for myself and a specific area of my house:) Just goes to show you there is a spiritual side to everything.......and we shouldn't mess with the art muses:)

Excellent!! I understand it, I love your artwork and try to make them my own but alas, it never does, not ever close. So the spirit of the original artist must be close at hand, encouraging us to be creative but not to duplicate. But since the artwork is for ourselves and not for sale, the artist spirit could be a bit more giving. I rest my case.

It doies seem to work like this. When we least expect it, everything falls into place.
