from the first moment i saw this photo of girls i had the story clear in my head. these little sisters were all grown up now and their loved ones were experiencing the lonely existence of a quiet house! the girls were not only gone, but free to accept life on their own terms. dad was suffering the most since his little daughters were all out in the big bad world without his protection. birds must fly away from the nest at some point....but that doesn't make it any less painful. the homestead seems empty and dead without the laughter and squabbling. the kitchen stove is cold most of the time....with only two mouths to feed. all the expenses have ceased the the ledgers rest quietly on the dusty shelf. life goes on, but the spirit is broken a bit.........
