The Edgewater.......in Seattle

The Edgewater Hotel is the only waterfront hotel in Seattle.
The views are fabulous as is the food and amenities!
Built in the 60's for the World's Fair.....
the hotel wasn't finished in time.
We were told that the "Beatles" stayed at the Edgewater
when visiting Seattle back in the day:D

Each evenings we enjoyed the sailboats as they made their way
up and down Puget Sound.
These photos were taken from the lounge.

This fireplace and water feature
invite you inside the beautiful Edgewater!

The Lobby and public areas of this hotel are so
warm and cozy.....welcoming conversation and relaxation!

The lounge as well as the dining room
had a wall of windows looking out onto Puget Sound!

Looking down at part of the Lobby and out onto the water.

A great place to stay......where they treated us like royalty!
Their town car took us everywhere we wanted to go
and
picked up us when we were ready to call it a day:D

Just arrived home from Seattle!

Man made waterfall right in the middle of town.....
simply lovely and serene!

Flowers everywhere.....makes your heart sing!

This class blowing studio is located in Pioneer Square.....
Dale Chihuly once worked and sold from this gallery!

Artists' are constantly at work beautifying the city .......and when they work in the dark of night
the locals say they have completed an "Art Attack".
These tree sweaters are part of one of the latest "Art Attacks"!

With water views everywhere......photo opportunities are endless!

Outside the glass shop and studio.

The Farmer's Market that houses world renowned Pike's Fish Market....where they throw the fish when ever a sale is made!
One of the oldest continuous running market in the U.S.

We had never been to the Northwest
and it seems like a good time,
since the weather in St. Louis had reached the 100 degree mark!
We knew we wanted to visit Seattle and Victoria:D
What a wonderful time we had!!!!!
Above are the pictures from our visits around the city!
So much to see and do!
Art is a way of life......as is Healthy Living!
More bikers and joggers than I have ever seen before:D
Art, art and more art.....everywhere you look:D

Fun trip and R&R......

Just returned from a fun and storm ridden week in Kentucky Dam Village! Beautiful cabin, relaxing atmosphere, great food and company!!!!!! The boys played golf everyday while Sandy and I found antique shops, flea markets and wonderful vistas. The first day there we were lucky enough to find an art fair in Paducah:D Right up our alley!

Beautiful Southern homes and gardens dotted the path of the show. Historical reenactments being performed on the street and very nice artwork featured from friendly artists! There is an artist community in the southern end of Paducah. Artists have been given space for living and working at a reduced rate to encourage them to come to the area. Many of the galleries were open and it was fun meeting the artists along the way!

A fun time with family is always something to look forward to! San and I painted, read and even cooked a few meals. A lot of texting between St. Louis, K.C. and Kentucky as the storms ripped through the Midwest! Everyone at home safe and sound! A lovely time was had by all!

Day 2 in Alabama.....Huntsville!

One of the many "green spaces" in beautiful Huntsville, Alabama. My sis and I fell in love with this little city, the vistas, the people, the community involvement and the attention to detail! These people are definitely proud of their city and it looks like it:D The Red Bridge graces the Tenn. River in the downtown area. This bridge was given to the city by Japan in 1982. When they put out a call for volunteers last week-end to sand and repaint the bridge....they were happily surprised to have 300 + show up and ready to work. A local catering company furnished everyone with a free lunch and the bridge was finished when the week-end was over!
Their Art Museum is financed strictly with donated dollars. The renovation that is going on is amazing. They will soon have another 7 galleries to add to the existing space along with a children's museum on the lower level and a small cafe! Here are some pictures in an exhibit of Messersmith's work. Fabulous pieces from the Florida artist and professor. He has a flare for color and style that is reminiscent of Mexican Folk Art.

At the lower edge of many of his pieces are compartments filled with 3D objects that run the full width of the painting. At the top is a 3D carved piece (usually an animal) secured to the top of the canvas. Really inventive:D

He has many pieces with 3D pieces secured to the main body of the work. In one painting there is a crutch hanging from the center of the piece.

The boys are playing 4 of the courses on the Robert Trent Jones Trail. Each one more beautiful than the next. Could the weather have been better....you ask yourself? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
The high in the 70's and low 80's. Sunny with a little breeze:D Resort weather....although I understand that St. Louis is enjoying the same weather:D I think God is smiling at us after the broiling summer where us older people found it hard to want to be outside....LOL

These pics don't really do the courses and clubhouses justice......but....for what it is worth, my photographic history.

Now.......let's talk antiques:D We had plenty of them to keep us busy for a week of Tuesdays.

An Antique Mall where many "goodies" were purchased and several hours were spent:D

Now this.....Jack's Antiques.....was the most fun of all....................talk about your hoarding! Wow, this man would be hard pressed to move to a new location:D We spent a lot of time looking and talking to him. He did know his pricing and was not shy to post some pretty high prices. That didn't stop us though.............we forged on and loaded the car with several boxes full to the brim.

I don't know about the responsibility level of the Fire Marshall in Florence (where we were for these shots).....but, maybe they need to retire him and get some young blood in there LOL!

Below is the clubhouse at Hampton Cove where the boys played the first two days. What beautiful country.

A little tug boat passing down the river.....as we relaxed on the veranda.......life is good!

One happy relaxed group!

Here we are in Alabama........

We had to laugh at ourselves........with two carts of luggage for 2 days that we would be there:D
I must mention that we were going on from there for a couple more days.....but....not enough to merit the amount we brought along...ha..ha!

Sandy and I quickly took over the table in our suite. We were ready to paint and journal when the mood struck us..............the guys were all about golf.....Robert Trent Jones Trail:D

Day one.........we had this delightful gentleman, Bill, take us on a complete tour of their large Botanical Gardens. So much community involvement, was hard to believe. What a wonderful place (nothing like our beautiful gardens though) where there were so many interactive things to see and do!

Here we are in front of the lily pads..............simply lovely serene place to be for a day:D After a nice lunch on the deck in the sun we drove to the golf course to pick up hubbies!

SAVANNAH.........

The fabulous Mulberry Hotel on Bay Street in Savannah was our stopping off point! Thanks to Sue for providing a fun filled 4 days! We will be back:D

(click on collage to enlarge) Our pretty lodging!

The River Front on the Savannah River

Savannah College of Art and Design!

Gorgeous architecture and homes!

Enough food to keep us going for several weeks:D Great Southern cooking! We visited Paula Deen's restaurant, "Lacy and Sons" and had a fabulous meal there!

Gardens, parks, squares and landscapes that took our breath away! We visited Hilton Head and Beaufort S. C. as well as the squares of Savannah!

We had so much fun! Ron, the pedicab driver gave us an extended drive after dinner and shared his upbringing in Savannah or as he called it....Slow-vannah:D Life does have a much slower pace there and we sure enjoyed it! If you haven't been there I would put it on your "bucket list".
