Antique Mall.............

My sis and I spent the day yesterday
working on our booths at the Antique Mall!
Several of you had asked me to post some pics.......
I hesitate because our booths are so chocked full and almost scary
with merchandise:D
I took these pics to show you what I am talking about!!!!!!

This booth houses most of our "Littles"....

It is a major undertaking to keep these booths straight
and in some order,
but it is always a fun day with my sister:D

Today's Thrift Project!

I purchased this piece for only 23.00 and was tickled pink!
It was sturdy but the drawers stuck and it needed stops.
Not a big deal.................
paint, sanding and wax brought this baby into the 21st century.
With the help of some vintage hardware I purchased on ebay...
she is lookin good!
I painted the inside of the drawers with Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue!

Birth of New Collection :D

I have always been intrigued with complex instruments and machines.
Something about the ingenuity that goes into their making!
Have you ever really looked at a piano....the inner workings of a piano?
What about a clarinet? Old typewriter????
Well, I have a new love of vintage clocks.......as some of you have seen
in past posts.
With Ebay handy and the help of my thrift shop excursions
I have a new collection being born.
Not sure where I will display these beauties,
but they should fit in almost anywhere:D
Here are my first purchases......the more rusty the better:)

They arrived....

My new love is old rusty nonworking clocks and clock faces:D
I have been purchasing on
Ebay and Etsy,
a great way to start my new collection!
Today my first purchases arrived and I couldn't be happier......
must leave that feed-back!
I plan on hanging them on the wall, but to keep them in view
for the time being.....I placed them behind my retro turquoise collection
on my kitchen windowsill :D
I also purchased some small vintage faces for my collage work.
Here they are below......aren't they sweet?

Will post more once I hang the larger ones and work with the smaller ones:D

This and That.......

These pics uploaded in the wrong order.....but....Oh well, I am too tired to start over.....
This is a rack I found garage-saling yesterday and I will use it to display Cabinet Cards at the antique mall! I love re-purposing almost anything, but racks really come in handy when displaying items at the mall:D
This is a little collection I started a while back. I decided to collect dinnerware from the 1950's with turquoise detail. I emptied out my cabinet of dishes and started fresh....so to speak:D I have over a hundred pieces now and have turquoise table clothes, napkins and placemats to match. I have even found bakeware by Fireking and Pyrex that match as well. The pattern is Biscayne by Salem pottery. One thing I really like is that the dishes are lighter in weight and IN SIZE! The idea behind this is that we are eating less because less fits on our plates.
Did you know that modern dinner plates are the size of vintage (say 1950-60) platters? Well, they are! It amazes me the difference in size and consumption!!!!!
Anyway, I started seeing pitchers, coffee and tea pots in that same turquoise blue and scarfed them up as well........I have even purchased a few Melmac pieces in the same color:D

Now, back to the racks.......see I told you about the mix up in pics.....you get the idea though:D
This rack was purchased at a thrift store for 3.00 and I wasn't sure what I would do with it, but I sprayed it teal blue and waited for inspiration.
While trying to figure out how to sell some of my MANY vintage photos....I decided to use the rack. Really happy with the results:D
See what you think.
It is kind of hard to see with all the background noise......sorry!

You get the idea.

Auction Action.........

Today and yesterday were good "Antique Mall" days for me! I didn't get much furniture, but sure found some nice "Smalls"! Rog and I went to an Auction early this morning and had a great time bidding on many items.....most we didn't get...LOL! Now it is time to wash, package and price. Then it is finding room for them in our booths at the Mall.......which isn't easy!

Last nights auction loot!

a Last night we were sad to learn
that our wonderful Monday night auctions were coming to an end!
The auctioneer said that he was moving on
to other things he wants to do with his time
and
that this would be his last auction!!!!!
OH NO.....what now?
Anyway, I took advantage
and
bid on as many things as I could to build up some stock:D
Here is a collage of items and our messy garage
at time of drop off....LOL
Some pieces have already been painted and are on their way:D

Joining The Work Force Again.......

I am going to be starting work again......in a small way :D I will be working at the Antique Mall where Sandy and I have our booths! I want to do something to make a little extra money and found that there was going to be an opening at Great Midwest! I jumped on it since I already know all the people that work there and it is familiar territory for me. We shall see how it goes after Wednesday afternoon when I get the lowdown on what is expected of me:D

Tonight was an auction night for us! Always fun and an evening I look forward to. We bought several pieces; antique wood carved bed frame and antique dresser mirror. I also bought a large handmade baby cradle. I think I will be painting the bed frame white with a shabby chic finish. Probably the same on the mirror. The cradle could really be cute if painted decoratively. Maybe some linens for the bed would make it even more appealing.....we will see!

I will post some pics as I finish the pieces.
